Video filmed and edited by David Reimer This major apartment fire at the Heights apartments began just before 11 PM on July 27, 2011 at the 300 block of North Irving Heights Drive in Irving, Texas. Upon arrival, Irving fire units reported heavy fire and requested a second alarm. Just a few moments later, they requested a 3rd alarm and finally a 4th alarm. The entire building was impacted by the fire and several red cross teams assisted residents impacted by the fire. Over 30 apartment units were damaged or destroyed by this fire leaving over 80 individuals homeless. In addition, seven individuals were treated at area hospitals for smoke inhalation. In the summer time, an inversion layer prevents smoke from rising efficiently, thus smoke density remains high at ground level. You can see this in the video.
